Meet the Staff

George T. Jefferson, District Paleontologist, Colorado Desert District Stout Research Center, Department of Parks and Recreation, Borrego Springs, California.

George heads up the State Park's paleontology program out of the Colorado Desert District Stout Research Center.  For much of his professional career George was Associate Curator of the Rancho La Brea "tar pits" fossil collections at the George C. Page Museum in Los Angeles. He continues to expand the park’s paleontology knowledge base through exploration of new finds, by organizing and directing the volunteer certification program, and by leading field trips to share the paleontolic and geologic legacy of the park.
